An 18-wheeler carrying a load of steel construction materials rolled over on Interstate 95 northbound near the Golden Glades interchange north of Miami during the morning rush hour on May 30, 2026, snarling traffic for more than five hours.
The driver, a 48-year-old man from Hialeah, was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition with head and chest injuries. He was listed in critical but stable condition as of the evening of May 30.
The rollover scattered steel beams and construction materials across all three northbound lanes and the right shoulder, requiring a specialized heavy-lift crane to clear the wreckage. FDOT and Miami-Dade Police Department managed traffic diversions during the cleanup.
Florida Highway Patrol investigators are examining whether the load was properly secured and whether the driver had exceeded his hours-of-service limits. The trucking company's safety record is also under review.
